In a crisis

Triggr is not a crisis service. If you need one, it is right here.

If you are in immediate danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself, please stop reading this page and call now. It is free and it is answered by a person.

Outside Australia, call your local emergency number.

Your data

What we do with your information, in plain words.

The places you mark as dangerous, what you write, and where your phone is are yours. We do not sell them, we do not advertise against them, and we do not hand them to anyone for analysis.

Your support people see only what you have switched on for them, one thing at a time. A day count you share with your sister is not shared with your manager because he is also in your circle. Nothing is shared by default — if you have not turned it on, nobody sees it.

Location is used to work out whether you are near somewhere that matters and then it stops being interesting to us. Your support people are never told where you are, and the alert they receive does not name the place — that would put your whereabouts on someone else's screen.

You can delete your account from inside the app, and it takes the data with it. If you cannot get into the app, email us from the address on the account and we will do it.

If alerts stop

If the warnings stop arriving, here is how to get them back.

This is the one fault worth checking straight away, because nothing tells you it has happened — a warning that does not arrive looks exactly like a quiet day.

First, open the app and check that venue alerts are still switched on, and that the kinds of place you care about are still ticked. An app update can leave a setting looking on while nothing is selected underneath it.

Second, check that Triggr still has background location permission. On both iPhone and Android this has to be set to Always, not While Using — the app cannot notice you are near anywhere if it is only allowed to look while you have it open. A phone update sometimes quietly changes this back.

Third, check that notifications are allowed and that your phone is not in a focus or do-not-disturb mode that is filtering them out.

If all three are right and it is still silent, email us. Tell us roughly when you last got one and where you were, and we can look at whether the problem is at our end.

Questions

The things we are asked most often.

Is Triggr a replacement for therapy or meetings?

No. Triggr is built to bridge the gap between the support you already use and the moments that usually pull you off track. It is not a substitute for therapy, meetings, or medical care.

Does a lapsed payment stop my alerts?

No, and it never will. A warning that you are near somewhere dangerous is not a premium feature. If your card expires the alerts keep arriving.

Can I remove someone from my support circle?

Yes, at any time, from inside the app. They are not told, and no date is shown. We cannot tell a friendship that faded from someone getting away from a person they are afraid of, so we treat every removal as though it were the second.

How do I delete my account?

From inside the app, and it takes your data with it. If you cannot get in, email us from the address on the account and we will take care of it.

Which devices does Triggr run on?

iPhone on the App Store and Android on Google Play.
